Shoulder Webcast

This webcast will focus on the use of the aquatic medium for shoulder rehabilitation. The presentation will emphasize the progression of an aquatic program for clients with various shoulder diagnosis- impingement, tendinitis, post op RTC repair, and post-op replacement. It will also feature the uses of various equipment including underwater treadmill, aquatic gloves, buoyant equipment, mask and snorkel. Treatment ideas will be provided for the following positioning: 

  • Standing
  • Supine
  • Prone


This 1 hour webcast will be broadcast live from the HydroWorx 500 Series pool at Essex Aquatic and Rehab Center in Essex Junction, VT. Live attendees will have the opportunity to see the HydroWorx 500 Series pool.

In this webinar participants will receive an introduction to the principles of aquatic therapy, with specific applications for pediatric client populations.  There will be additional focus on physical therapy care planning for children including land to water transitions, treatment considerations, and documentation.

  • The properties of water that are beneficial for pediatric therapy
  • What pediatric populations can benefit from aquatic therapy
  • What treatment considerations and precautions/contraindications exist for this population
  • How and when to transition between water and land therapy
  • How to effectively document aquatic therapy
  • What equipment can be used to enhance therapy sessions
  • How to make sessions fun for kids

 

All of this information will be supported by case studies from Cindy’s aquatic therapy program at Children’s Hospital of St. Paul.

SPEAKER BIO:

 

Veronica Paquette is a physical therapist and owner of Essex Aquatic & Rehab Center in Essex Junction, VT. Veronica graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Physical Therapy and is certified in Aquatic Rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the APTA Aquatics Section. She has been certified through the Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute since 1997 and through the Postural Restoration Institute since 2010. Practicing in the physical therapy profession since 1990, Veronica has developed a passion for treating patients in the aquatic medium. Opening the doors to her own private practice 12 years ago and adding private therapy pools has allowed her ability to continue to pursue her passion of treatment in the aquatic medium.
