Design Considerations
Mechanical Room
- Equipment Access: An access hatch, removable side panels or stairways are a few design options to provide the required access to the mechanical equipment.

- Mechanical Pit Design Examples: HydroWorx pools can be installed inground, above ground or partially recessed. Contact HydroWorx for a proposed layout review to ensure proper clearances.

- Remotely Located Equipment: Select equipment such as the filter, heater, chiller and pumps can be remotely located, provided HydroWorx has reviewed the design layout to ensure proper performance and longevity of the equipment.

- Adequate Air Exchange: Providing adequate air exchange in the mechanical pit is important in the long-term performance of the equipment as well as eliminating moisture build-up during routine draining and service procedures.

- Sump Pump/Drain Lines: An adequately sized sump pump or floor drain is required to drain the pools for routine cleaning and maintenance.

Additional Considerations
- Chair Lift Systems: Chair lifts assist in the patient transfer process. For recommended manufacturers, please contact us.

- Locker Rooms: Having locker rooms in close proximity to the pool area allows patients to change comfortably, access the pool without passing through high traffic areas.

- Pool Room Drains: Floor drains or perimeter drains are a must in the design of your pool area. If individual floor drains are chosen, it is suggested that several are placed in and around the pool with special attention to the high traffic areas.

- Showers: Showers are an integral part of a locker room design, but also including rinse showers in the pool room adds value to your users. In addition, if patients rinse off before and after getting into the pool, it will help to maintain the appropriate chemical water balance and can help avoid itchy skin from the remnants of chemicals after a session.
- Ventilation: Adequate airflow in the poolroom helps maintain a comfortable environment. Most poolrooms are kept around 85 degrees to minimize the variance from air temperature to water temperature.
- Pool Room Safety Signs: Pool room safety signs are required by law. Check with your local health department for proper rules and guidelines.
