Fibromyalgia Rehab with Aquatic Therapy

Presented by: Hima Dalal, OTR/L, Owner and Founder of Vital Energy Wellness and Rehab Center

UnknownFibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal pain syndrome which causes long-term widespread pain in joints, muscles, tendons and other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has been associated with symptoms including: fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches/migraines, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, gastrointestinal issues, depression, anxiety and mood swings. These symptoms can lead to issues with cognition and functioning in every day life.

Fibromyalgia affects as many as 5 million Americans primarily aged 18 and older. Between 80-90% of individuals suffering from fibromyalgia are women. However, both men and children can also be diagnosed with fibromyalgia. There is no identified cause and no cure for fibromyalgia. Potential causes of fibromyalgia include previous family history, physical or emotional trauma, infections or repetitive injuries.

At Vital Energy Wellness and Rehab Center we incorporate aquatic therapy using HydroWorx pools into our occupational and physical therapy programs and practice.

attendees of this webinar will Learn:

  • How hydrotherapy has demonstrated improvements in fibromyalgia symptoms when engaged in regularly and consistently.
  • How hydrotherapy reduces associated symptoms of pain.
  • How to use hydrotherapy to increase quality of life for patients suffering from Fibromyalgia.
